Seller Spotlight: Bluecorn Beeswax celebrates 25 years of selling with Amazon

When we first invited independent sellers into our store 25 years ago, it created new opportunities for many businesses like yours. Bluecorn Beeswax symbolizes this opportunity, as it’s grown from a small business into a large regional employer.

In the 1990s, Jon Kornbluh founded Bluecorn Beeswax after looking for an alternative to his kerosene lanterns that gave him headaches. He began to craft beeswax candles in his cabin and sold them to friends and local health food stores, where he found joy in both the artisanal craft and business aspects.

For Kornbluh, Amazon represented something revolutionary as he watched it grow from its early days. “When Amazon first opened its store to small businesses like ours, it was just a simple page where you could list your products. I decided to take a chance, and as Amazon grew, so did we. The concept that we could reach customers nationwide from our rural location was a game changer,” said Kornbluh.

As his business success grew, Kornbluh looked for ways to scale the fulfillment operations to match the increasing demand. After adopting Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), he saw a 400% increase in sales in a month, and the workforce doubled from 9 to 18 employees. Subsequently, as the business started to use new tools from Amazon, including advanced advertising capabilities and enhanced fulfillment options, Bluecorn Beeswax could compete more effectively.

“This journey has been remarkable,” Kornbluh reflected. “From our early days with Amazon to where we are now, each step has built on the last. Today, we’re building something even bigger—a lasting contribution to our community.”
