Virtual multipacks

Virtual multipacks

A virtual multipack combines multiple units of your existing single-pack FBA products into one listing, which we fulfill with existing single-pack inventory. Virtual multipacks allow you to sell multiple quantities of the same product as a single offer with no change to your operations and no need to physically package items together.

Unlike bundles, which combine different ASINs, virtual multipacks contain multiple units of the same ASIN. Virtual multipacks have unique ASINs and SKUs that differentiate them from the single unit, and they display as a variation on the single-pack detail page. In Seller Central, they display as part of a variation family with the single-pack ASIN.

Virtual multipacks are already available for vendor products on Amazon. For example, thispack of four shaving foamsis a virtual multipack.

Virtual multipack SKUs start with theVMP_prefix, and they’re labeled as Virtual Multipacks onManage All Inventory.

Pilot program

To help boost sales and delight customers, we are running a virtual multipack pilot focusing on FBA brand-owned ASINs with strong customer demand for multi-unit purchases. For the pilot, we may create virtual multipack listings on your behalf. Virtual multipacks will appear as part of the same variation family as the single-pack ASIN. In cases where there isn’t an existing variation family, we will create a variation family.

All of these listings will be created by September 26, 2025, and will be available to review or delete onManage All Inventory. These virtual multipacks will become available for customers to purchase on October 13, 2025. You can edit or delete the multipacks at any time.

It can take up to 48 hours for the complete virtual multipack to appear in your catalog. So if the virtual multipack is missing a description, is not in a variation family, or otherwise appears incomplete, check back in 48 hours. Virtual multipack images won’t appear onManage All Inventoryuntil October 13, 2025, when the multipacks become available for customers.

Virtual multipack titles will display the pack size (for example, “Pack of 2”). The SKU will also indicate the pack size (for example, “2_PK”). By default, all virtual multipacks will be priced according to the current per-unit price. For example, a pack of two will be priced at two times the single unit price. To edit the price, title, images or description, clickEdit Virtual Multipack. Note that while titles can be changed, pack sizes cannot be changed. The images section will display images from the single-pack product.

To review your virtual multipacks, go toManage All Inventory, and filter forVMP_.

To delete the virtual multipack, go to the hamburger menu, and selectDelete listing. Note that if you delete a virtual multipack listing during this pilot, you won’t be able to reactivate it later.

Detail pages will go live on October 13, 2025. You will see an error message if you attempt to view the detail page before that date.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the pilot?

We plan to run the virtual multipack pilot through 2025. We’ll communicate any changes.

Can I join the pilot?

We used an automated process to select ASINs for the pilot. There is no option to manually join or opt into the pilot at this time.

How do I know which of my ASINs have virtual multipacks?

Virtual multipacks will be automatically assigned a new virtual ASIN and SKU, and the SKU will start with aVMP_prefix. To review your virtual multipacks, go toManage All Inventory, and filter forVMP_. Note that this is a limited pilot; not all sellers will have virtual multipacks at this time.

There was a virtual multipack listing on the Manage All Inventory page, but it’s no longer appearing. What happened?

We’ll validate all virtual multipacks that we create during this pilot to verify successful detail page generation. This validation process maintains our quality standards and prevents errors on detail pages. If we detect an error, we’ll automatically remove the affected virtual multipack from yourManage All Inventorypage and the pilot program. No action is required from you. Automatic removal will only occur from September 8, 2025, through September 26, 2025.

How do I send inventory for the virtual multipack?

Virtual multipack orders are fulfilled with existing single pack-pack inventory. Continue sending your single-pack SKU as usual.

How does virtual multipack pricing work?

By default, all virtual multipacks will be priced according to the current per-unit price. You can change multipack prices onManage All Inventory. Note that if you change the price of the single-pack ASIN, the virtual multipack will not update automatically. You can run promotions such as coupons or ads on the virtual multipack ASIN.

How are images generated for virtual multipacks?

We will automatically create your virtual multipack images using images from the single-pack product. The style of the virtual multipack primary image depends on the pack size.

  • 2-pack: Two single-pack images shown side by side
  • 3-4 pack: Single-pack images shown in a layered format
  • 5-6 pack: Single-pack image with “Pack of 5” or “Pack of 6” sticker in the top right.

All other images from the single-pack will be copied over to the virtual multipack. We recommend reviewing and updating images after October 13, 2025. Note that if you change the image of the single-pack ASIN, the virtual multipack will not update automatically.

How can I track virtual multipack traffic and sales?

For information about how to track virtual multipack traffic and sales, go toSales reports for virtual bundles and virtual multipacks.

How do virtual multipack fees work?

There are no additional fees for virtual multipacks. Virtual multipack sales will be charged the fulfillment fee per unit. For example, if a customer orders a 2-pack VMP, then you will be charged 2 * the single-pack fulfillment fee.

What if my single-pack ASIN is out of stock?

If the single-pack ASIN has 0 Available units, the associated virtual multipack will no longer appear as a variation on the single-pack product detail page. When inventory is replenished, the virtual multipack variation will re-appear.
